Previously unseen photos of Rose Byrne (Las Vegas 1999) |
    Rupert Thorpe remembers a sunny day in Las Vegas back in 1999 where he had the chance to spend some time (and take some fun loving photos) with Rose Byrne and Heath Ledger. “…Heath and Rose asked me to stay (in Vegas) and hang out because we were having so much fun, but I ended up flying back to Los Angeles that night while they stayed on for a couple more days.” Byrne’s – whose own career was launched after starring alongside Ledger in Two Hands, which premiered two months after the photos were taken – said she remembered her longtime friend as fun-loving and excitable. “He was a very lovely, spontaneous, distinctive actor,” she said. “I was very blessed to have worked with him.” For the Vegas shoot, Ledger and Byrne were not accompanied by publicists, managers or minders. They had gone shopping together and bought their outfits from a second-hand clothes store in Los Angeles. Rose Byrne shares a joke with Erik Price of Esquire. 
About the Jokester: Australian actress Rose Byrne, 29, has had a rough go of it since making her American film debut with a small role in Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones. In 2004′s Troy, Byrne played Briseis, a character who endures being kidnapped and seduced by Brad Pitt. Currently, she can be seen on the second season of FX’s critical success Damages as a young lawyer who spends most of her time trying not to be killed by Glenn Close. Later this month, Byrne stars alongside Nicolas Cage in the thriller Knowing. In the movie, Cage finds a cryptic note that offers him a frightening glimpse into the future. That his future involves Byrne probably makes things easier to take. |
